Glypho

What it is

Glypho is a free memory card game that is genuinely bilingual: every card, every category and every menu reads the same in Arabic as it does in English. Turn two cards, find what they have in common, and keep the pair.

What it does

• Bilingual, not translated — Arabic and English are both first-class — right-to-left layout included — and the language switches mid-game without losing the board.
• Three ways to play — Alone against a computer opponent, around one device with up to eight players taking turns, or online in a room with friends.
• Categories worth learning — Pairs are drawn from mathematics, geography, history, science and language, so a round teaches something as well as testing memory.
• Installs like an app — It is a progressive web app: add it to a home screen and it opens from an icon. Local play keeps working with no connection at all.
• Free to play — Every mode, board size and difficulty is free. Glypho Pro adds category choice in every mode and can be cancelled at any time.

Where it came from

Glypho began as a Unity party game and was rebuilt for the web so that playing it takes a link rather than an install. The web version runs the same game rules in the browser as on the server, which is what lets a solo game carry on when the connection does not.
